Stuart Fowkes is the creator and curator of Cities and Memory, a global field recording and sound art project that presents both the present reality of a place, but also its imagined, alternative counterpart – remixing the world, one sound at at time.
He has been field recording for more than ten years, and approaches the discipline from a musical/sampling perspective, having employed manipulated field recordings in various musical releases and live performances since 2001.
Stuart collected all of the original Hamburg field recordings and created the original #Hamburgsounds project from which this album is derived.
